You Don’t Have to Do Anything: Surrendering to God’s Control

In life, we often find ourselves in situations where we feel helpless, overwhelmed, or burdened by the challenges we face. The weight of trying to control everything—our circumstances, our relationships, our futures—can be exhausting. But the truth is, we don’t have to do anything. God is in control, and He calls us to surrender our worries and trust in Him, even in our deepest, darkest times.

Trusting God in Long-Suffering

The Bible is filled with stories of people who endured great suffering yet remained faithful to God. One powerful reminder comes from the book of Psalms:

"The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit." - Psalm 34:18 (ESV)

This verse reminds us that God is always near, especially when we are brokenhearted. In our suffering, we are not alone. God sees our pain, and He is there to comfort and sustain us.

In the book of Romans, we are reminded that even in our struggles, God is at work for our good:

"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." - Romans 8:28 (NIV)

This doesn’t mean that everything will always be easy, but it does mean that God has a plan, even when we can’t see it. Our suffering is never wasted; it is part of His greater purpose for our lives.

Surrendering Control to God

One of the most challenging aspects of faith is surrendering control to God. We want to fix things, to make everything right, but the Bible teaches us that true peace comes from letting go and trusting God’s sovereignty.

Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us:

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." - Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV)

We are called to trust in the Lord with all our heart, not just when things are going well, but also when life feels out of control. Our understanding is limited, but God’s wisdom is infinite. By submitting to Him, we find the peace that comes from knowing He is guiding our steps.

Supporting Each Other in Faith

As brothers and sisters in Christ, we are also called to support one another in faith. We cannot control each other but encourage, uplift, and point each other to God’s truth. Hebrews 10:24-25 reminds us of the importance of fellowship and mutual support:

"And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching." - Hebrews 10:24-25 (NIV)

In times of hardship, our family and community in Christ are vital sources of strength. We are called to encourage one another, to remind each other of God’s promises, and to pray for each other. Together, we can face life's challenges with faith, knowing that God is in control.

WE ARE NOT DESIGNED TO BE ALONE!

You don’t have to do anything—except trust in God and surrender to His will. In our long-suffering, in our darkest times, we are held by a God who loves us and has a purpose for us. We cannot control others, but we can surrender to God’s control, knowing He is working all things for our good. As we lean on each other and the Word of God, we find strength, peace, and the assurance that we are never alone.

Let us rest in the knowledge that God is in control and His plans for us are good, even when we cannot see the way forward.
